*update* technical difficulties have been encountered :P (btw, noob question: if i do so, should i post it here or on the XNA thread?) Well, i actually tried some of the stuff i was doing in XNALara during the process, but if i remember correctly (done this about a month ago, actually), some things looked oddly different.īut i guess i'll give it a go a bit later ) :tmb: Any chance for an XNALara version? :jmp: That last part took me a long time as well (light & normal), but i guess it's because it was the first time i worked with textures, hehe Again, complete with light & normal so that the lace doesn't look flat and pasted on the skin. That way you can use the RGB channels simply for color. If you invert your B&W texture, and paste it into the alpha channel, the black parts of it will be transparent, and the white will not, with gray being different levels of opacity.

The diffuse texture is actually fully black (well, not black, i know from digital painting that you never use full black, or white, it would look like a hole in the painting, so i guessed the same applied here, it's between 2% ~ 5% gray), but the trick is in the alpha channel.

I also copied over the skin to the light and normal maps, but be prepared to lose a lot of time if you do that, i know i did (endless tweaks and a lot of trial & error) :PĪs for the lace pattern, it's not exactly pasted over, i replaced the pattern texture for that part of the shirt. Lower opacity on the skin layer, select both and transform -> scale until the dots are aligned with the corners, cut around the excess with the lasso tool, delete the dots layer, and presto, all done :) Then, it was just a matter of deleting the checkered layer, and copying the body texture layer and dots layer over to the shirt texture. Comparing the XNA model, and the texture, i then marked the dots where the skin and the corners of the shirt areas intersected in a new layer. That way i could see where the texture "met" the lower corners of the areas in the shirt that i wanted to make transparent. How do you? Pleaseīasically i found the torso texture, made and applied a checkered grid over it in a different layer (bottom row at navel level, i think), numbered the bottom row of squares, saved a png copy (keeping the original open) and fired it up in XNALara.

^ How do you make the sides transperant! I've always wanted to make an outfit like you just did, but I never knew how to make them transperant. Thanks for your kind comments, i'm glad you like it :)

Looks a lot worse, 'cause the lace had to be done in a different way, but.

So, i keep seeing mistakes and details that could be better, and i forgot to search around how to make it so it didn't require texture detail setting set to high, and i guess it's not a very original mod, but. My sister's probably going to kill me when she's home *hides* haha XD blurred some parts of the background, edited some other tiny things and tadaaa I ended up with a background picture :p So since I really liked the shot and I'm not in the mood to actually do something useful *ehem* I made her some new eyes :P But she kept on saying it wasn't good until I noticed that indeed the eyes where out of place *lol* My sister posted the dark queen () a few days ago and I was constantly nagging her to upload one of her other screenshots she took.
